The RGB is bright enough though and when lit up, it looks great on the white keyboard. You can also change the lighting in MSI’s Dragon Center software but the customization is severely lacking. Instead, there are 7 lighting presets which you can cycle though on the keyboard itself. Speaking of the RGB, the lighting on the Vigor GK30 looks pretty great right up until you realise that there’s only 6 lighting areas and you cannot individually change each RGB light per key on the keyboard. The keyboard’s overall design itself looks quite straightforward but there’s a definite “gamer”-ness to it with the RGB lighting strip on the right-hand side near the numpad and arrow keys. The cable isn’t braided though so it might end up getting damaged if you’re moving the keyboard around a lot or abusing it somehow (Don’t do that folks!). The Vigor GK30’s cable is rather long at 1.8 meters and it feels like it’ll last you quite a while since it’s encased in tough white plastic. You do acclimatize to the keyswitches quite quickly. Mem-chanical keyswitches do also have the added advantage of being quieter to use than fully mechanical keyswitches - Though this has changed in recent years with the introduction of “silent” mechanical keyswitches so do bear that in mind too. They aren’t terrible and don’t feel as bad to type or game on as a plain membrane keyboard would and for budget gamers who need something to use while they save up for something high-end, it’s honestly perfectly usable. With that said, you do acclimatize to the keyswitches quite quickly. Sure they feel like they are mechanical but any hardcore gamer who’s used to original, crunchy Cherry MX keys will immediately be able to tell that something is off here. While this might sound harsh, the mechanical-like or (mem-chanical as it’s sometimes called) keyswitches are just not that great to type on. Weight (product / package): 89 g (without cable) / 249 gĭiving right into the keyboard, the VIGOR GK30 gaming keyboard from MSI is not going to be winning over the hardcore gaming crowd.
